23 December 2009

This is the DATE where we finally officially own our flat. Feel so like an adult now. Prior to knowing when we'll be collecting the keys, the feeling was anxiety to the max. HDB had actually sent us a few letters, one to ask us to send in our latest income slips to make sure we are still working, then second one to let us know that we can still take the HDB loan and the third one to ask us if wanna ballot to attend the key collection ceremony with MM Lee on 14 Dec 2009. Of course we opt for it. It would be such an honour to be there (and to be one of the earliest to collect keys).

We had been a silent follower of The Pinnacle@Duxton, Singapore and MyHomeTown; and had read that there were residents being selected for the ceremony, made us even more anxious. We still had not received any letters. I had been whining in office so much that Yen and Wang offered me their keys. -_- In the end I called up my CSO and begged her to let us have it earlier. She is kind enough let us have it earlier than the scheduled date though it's not on 14 Dec. We are still very grateful.

Although we got the date, I'm still very anxious and excited. Eventually the anxiety gotten over us. We drove to Pinnacle even though we had not collected the keys. My heart was pounding so fast that I thought it was going to jump out when Sam was driving into the carpark. We even went up to our unit, outside. The feeling was so near yet so far. LOL.

Finally 23 Dec 2009 came. Our appointment was 11.10am, but I read from the reliable sources, we can reach there earlier. If we were lucky enough, we may be able to collect it earlier. So we dropped Ariel off at the usual time, ate breakfast at my office then off we went to HDB Hub. After we settled the fire insurance, it was not 9am yet. We got our queue number, it was 2180, which is like 120 away from the serving number. Sam started to complain that we came too early and started playing with my iPhone. I was looking around and spotted one officer surfing net. When his colleague walked past, he quickly switched screen. A very familiar scene. Anyway while we were busy fiddling with my iPhone, something prompted Sam to check the TV screen above us. We saw our number flashing! We waited for less than 20 min!

The officer who served us was quite nice, except a bit naggy. She kept congratulating us. LOL. After doing lots of autographing on the forms, she handed us the KEYS!! Time check, 10 min to 11am (I think...)

After lunch and grabbing some packet drinks from NTUC, we went straight to our HOME. Our appointment with Wincy is 2 pm, 2 hours for us to recce the place. We wanted to go to the sky bridges, but they are not opened yet.

Then Wincy called us, we went back to our HOME. She helped us checked if our design still feasible. Then wiring guy came and followed by the air-con man. By the end of the day, we were dead tired, but HAPPY!!

Finding an ID

After years of daily updating myself diligently on the progress of the development via the forum, finally I see something at the actual site that is similar to the model at the sales office. And we're already married with a adorable, cheerful, pretty, wonderful little Ariel.

Sam and I decided to look for an ID. Actually we did not look around too much. It's tad difficult to bring an ever-active toddler to look for one. Kenneth's fiancee's good friend is an ID, so we met up with her. We were quite comfortable with her, so we decided to sign up with her.

After a few meetings and she came up with a design that wow-ed us (sadly, the cost as well.) We really love it. We'll be hacking down ALL the walls linking the 3 bedrooms and walls to the kitchen. We'll be having a walk-in wardrobe (which Yen prefers to term it as clothes graveyard -_-).

Looking forward to getting keys!!!

Introducing...

Pinnacle@Duxton

Actually, I wanted to copy and paste the information from Wikipedia to here. I think I'll just link to there.

Prologue

While Sam and I were still dating, we chanced upon the advertisement for this new HDB development 5 years ago. It looked nice and majestic so we decided to head down to the show flat to take a look. I cannot really remember if it was crowded or not, but there were a handful of people. We quite like the place, especially the location of it.

I (not sure of Sam though) was drooling over the pictures in the brochure that we brought back. After some brief discussion with Sam, we decided to apply for it online. It's cheaper doing it online. After that was waiting for the queue number.

I got the news from Sam when I was having dinner with AJ and gang. He called and told me the queue number we got fell within the number of units available. I was ecstatic! The number of applicants were million times (okay, I exaggerated) more than the units available. Maybe is due to the fact that Sam not being a Chinese, so we do not have to fight with the other Chinese? Anyway I could not contain my excitement so I broke the news to the gang. Then later at the MRT station, AK and JS told me that they applied too. So they were equally excited. Anyway, the queue number they got was 3-digit, our's was 4-digit.

Fast-forward. HDB sent us a letter for flat selection. I had decided that I want a planter in the living room and a bay window in the master bedroom. So we short-listed a handful of units that falls into the various category. The day before the appointment with them was nerve-wrecking. I'm so scared that my first-choice will be taken up. God was good to us. We got our first choice. It was a relief after that.

The signing of the lease came a few weeks (or months) later. After that is years and years of waiting...
